Continuing Bellevue’s jazz tradition at Cypress Lounge & Wine Bar

June 7, 2011

Hot off the heels of two successful jazz shows during Bellevue Jazz Festival week, Cypress Lounge & Wine Bar will be host a series of live jazz events throughout the month of June. Shows will take place Friday nights from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and as always―no cover!

So come by Cypress at The Westin Bellevue to enjoy local Northwest wines while listening to local musicians. Or stop in before the show to taste the new happy hour menu from 5:00-7:00 p.m. daily and all day Sunday. Happy hour at Cypress features half-priced appetizers and small plates, $6 featured wines, $6 featured cocktails (the Leschi Lemonade is a must try!) and $4.50 Northwest taps.

The June music lineup at Cypress Lounge & Wine Bar includes:

June 10:  Industrial Revelation
An evening of instrumental jazz with Evan Flory-Barnes, Josh Rawlings, D’Vonne Lewis & Ahamefule Oluo, playing selections from their second CD, Unreal Reality, released in 2010.

June 17:  Jose “Juicy” Gonzales Trio
The keyboard-led Jose “Juicy” Gonzales Trio brings to mind a young Mose Alison with playful funky renditions of jazz standards. Earning his BFA at Cornish, Gonzales and his crew provide a truly entertaining evening.

June 24:  Brooks Giles III
If you missed Brooks Giles III at Cypress last time, you are not going to want to miss him again. Assembling some of the best jazz musicians in the Northwest, Giles’s outstanding showmanship and natural talent are a gift to the audience.

John Howie Steak’s featured April cocktail honors Earth Month

April 6, 2011

John Howie Steak honors April’s Earth Month with a featured happy hour cocktail, the Acai Tree-tini. Stop in during one of the restaurant’s many happy hours to try this refreshing martini. Happy hour is offered in the Piano Bar Monday-Saturday from 3:00– 6:00 p.m. and Monday-Thursday from 9:00–11:00 p.m. Weekend happy hour runs Friday-Saturday from 9:00 p.m.-midnight and Sunday 3:00-10:00 p.m.

From Norma Rosenthal Public Relations, LLC:

John Howie Steak Manager David Chou has designed a fun new spring cocktail honoring both the season and the environment – the Acai Tree-tini. Featured as the happy hour spirit for April, Earth Month 2011, and priced at $7, the drink is prepared by muddling fresh basil leaves, adding simple syrup and lime juice, and then topping it with VeeV. The martini is then shaken and strained into a glass, resulting in a gorgeous light tree green color.

VeeV is a new spirit – the world’s first distilled from the Brazilian super fruit Acai berry, which is very high in antioxidants and imparts a subtle sweet flavor. The environmentally conscious distillery, which is the only certified carbon neutral spirits company in the world, focuses on raising awareness, resources and support for the Brazilian Rainforest and the safe harvest of Acai. VeeV donates $1 for every bottle sold to directly benefit the farming communities that harvest this fruit.

As an added bonus, for every Acai Tree-tini sold at John Howie Steak, VeeV will plant a tree, helping to preserve the Rain Forest.
