Champagne isn’t just for New Years

December 2, 2011

For those who missed Daniel’s Broiler’s recent L’ Ecole No. 41 Wine Dinner, take advantage of another chance to sample world famous vintages alongside gourmet dishes at their 4th annual Champagne Dinner. Guests will sample a variety of Nicolas Feuillatte champagnes guided by expert Juliette McCourt from the champagne house of Nicolas Feuillatte.

Although the champagnes themselves are incentive enough to draw a crowd, no trip to Daniel’s Broiler would be complete without excellent cuisine. Each champagne will be expertly paired with dishes prepared by Chef Mike Dremann to enhance every flavor. Highlights of the dinner will include a ginger arugula with shaved foie gras crown paired with Nicolas Feuillatte Blanc de Blancs 2004, and a main course of Lobster Thermidor served with Nicolas Feuillatte Cuvee Palmes d’Or 1998. Dessert will be comprised of Holiday Napoleons with Nicolas Feuillatte Brut Rose.

The dinner will be held on Wednesday, December 7 at 6 p.m. in the Vintage Lounge at Daniel’s Broiler. The price is $150 per person for a full six-course meal. Due to limited seating, guests are encouraged to make reservations early by calling (425) 990-6310. Come ring in the holidays with a meal as decadent as the season itself at Daniel’s Broiler!

Two Saturday markets left

November 12, 2011

It’s your last chance to take advantage of the fresh, local produce provided by the Bellevue Farmers Market. The market will be closing up shop for the winter after Saturday, November 19th when the last market will take place. Luckily shoppers still have the opportunity to attend the last two markets of the year, and with the multitude of delicious fall produce in season, a trip to Bellevue’s Farmers Market is well worth braving the cooler weather.

Although fall is in full swing and winter is well on its way, farmers market shoppers can still expect to find a wide variety of fresh fruits and veggies including vibrant heirloom tomatoes, wild mushrooms, pears, peaches and a wide assortment of apples.

For avid bakers now is the perfect time to make some fruit pies! With strawberries, blackberries, rhubarb and pumpkins all readily available, a trip to the farmers market is the perfect place to pick up fresh, local ingredients to make a special fall treat.

Although the market is first and foremost a destination for grocery shopping, it is also a great place to pick decorative gourds and squashes while supporting locally owned farms.

The final two Saturday markets will be held on November 12th and November 19th in the parking lot of Bellevue’s First Congregational Church at 752 108th Avenue NE, and are open from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. So stop by to support local growers and pick up your share of fresh fall produce before it’s gone!

Your Local Market: 80% natural, 100% convenient

November 10, 2011

We all want to buy natural healthy foods, but as any shopper will tell you, most organic grocery stores don’t carry many of the mainstream staples customers are looking for. Who has the time to drive across town to pick up the few products unavailable at the local natural market? If you know the hassle of frequenting multiple grocery stores then you’re in luck! Tomorrow downtown Bellevue will welcome Your Local Market—the area’s first crossover natural market.

Your Local Market aims to solve the pervasive dilemma that all natural food shoppers face—the inability to find common brand name products alongside natural, organic and local food. Your Local Market sells 80% local, natural and certified organic goods while 20% of the store is devoted to household staples like Clorox, Pepsi and Tylenol.

Although Your Local Market is defined by its pairing of conventional and natural products, it remains true to its focus on natural goods. Like fellow natural food stores, Your Local Market includes a full service deli, bakery, natural meat section, organic wines, artisan cheeses and fresh baked bread. In addition, it has its own café for a quick breakfast on the go.

Your Local Market is Bellevue’s first official crossover market, but it is one of many natural, local and organic food options on the Eastside. With stores like Whole Foods and Bellevue’s weekly farmer’s market, the Eastside is unique in its accessibility to natural foods. Even Safeway and QFC boast larger natural and organic sections than their suburban counterparts, making downtown Bellevue an excellent area for all grocery shoppers.

Your Local Market opens tomorrow, Friday, November 11th, on the corner of NE 4th and Bellevue Way NE in the building formerly occupied by Safeway. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10:30 a.m. and the store will officially open to the public at 11:11 a.m. with grand opening events and promotions throughout the day.

Shoppers can also order groceries online at yourlocalmarket.com and arrange for delivery within three miles of the store or choose curbside pickup. So be sure to come by this groundbreaking new market this winter for true one-stop shopping!
