Grand Cru Wine Bar mixes it up: new Mixologie Lounge serving cocktails and spirits

August 25, 2010

Innovative and fresh spirits are being shaken and stirred at the new Grand Cru Mixologie Lounge. Grand Cru Wine Bar owners Robert Reichel, Steve Walker and Tom Cottrell announced the addition of hand-crafted cocktails, premium spirits and Stella on-tap to their wine bar located at TEN20 Tower on 108th Avenue NE and 10th Street. The new lounge opened its doors as the Grand Cru Mixologie Lounge earlier this week.

“We are excited about the additional offerings. Grand Cru Mixologie Lounge will continue to gratify wine enthusiasts from around the region by maintaining an eclectic wine by-the-glass program and creating a new connoisseur’s half-bottle program,” commented owner Robert Reichel. “A significant number of wines will still be available by the full bottle on the extended wine list and Captain’s list,” he added.

Jean O’Neill will serve as the new General Manager. O’Neill created a cocktail program upon the philosophy that Grand Cru will be a place where every guest can enjoy a well-made beverage each and every time—from the classics to their wide selection of signature cocktails. One of Grand Cru’s new signature cocktails is the Rita B. Martini, a twist on the classic margarita which includes a splash of beer.

The Mixologie Lounge now offers a selection of happy hour dishes, including Dungeness Thai Crab Cakes with fresh orange slaw, Thai chili sauce and a spicy mustard drizzle; and a half-pound Kobe Beef Burger served with fontina cheese, tarragon aioli, caramelized onions and french fries.

New decorative elements have been added to the space including large flat screen TVs throughout the bar and new furniture giving the bar a more comfortable, lounge-style feel.

Grand Cru Mixologie Lounge is open Monday-Thursday 4:00 p.m.-11:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 4:00 p.m.-Midnight.  Beginning September 12, it will open on Sunday from Noon-10:00 p.m.

Happy Hour is all night on Sundays (beginning September 12) and Mondays. There is also an early and late night happy hour every Tuesday thru Saturday from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.-close.

Welcome Vovito Caffè & Gelato!

July 21, 2010

Vovito Caffè & Gelato opened July 25 in The Shops at The Bravern. Grand opening festivities are planned for July 30.

The Italian-inspired specialty cafè will offer hand-crafted espresso, coffee and beans in Premium Blend and Single Origin varieties, as well as a full selection of gourmet teas and chai beverages.   Along with coffee and tea drinks, Vovito Caffè & Gelato will feature house-made gelato, sorbetto, a wide variety of paninis, salads and baked goods.

The café will open at 6:30 am Monday through Friday (8:30 am on Saturdays and 10:00 am on Sundays) to satisfy coffee and breakfast cravings, including freshly prepared Panini breakfast sandwiches, pastries, fresh orange juice and gelato smoothies.

Vovito is a welcome addition to The Shops at The Bravern, which has been seeking a coffee purveyor.  “We’re extremely pleased to have Vovito Caffè & Gelato open at The Bravern,” said Mark Netherland, senior investment manager for project developer Schnitzer West, LLC.  “The quality of the product we can now offer visitors was worth the wait.”

Founded by Eastside entrepreneurs Ariff and Shairose Gulamani, Vovito Caffè & Gelato represents the third start-up venture for the couple.  It was a personal passion for unique artisan products that led the two to begin development of the Vovito concept a year ago. Bellevue seemed the perfect location to launch their flagship store.

“We see Bellevue as the new hub,” says Ariff Gulamani. “It’s vibrant, it has the right demographics, and it has become the new center of activity for the region. We were very excited when we heard about The Bravern.  Its inviting, upscale environment is the perfect setting for our concept.”

Vovito Caffè & Gelato will occupy 2,444 square feet in The Shops at The Bravern and seat approximately 35 inside the shop. Reflecting the Italian origins and artisanship of its signature products, Vovito Caffè & Gelato will feature Italianate design throughout, from the custom-made, curved gelato cases to the stone counters and stairs to the warm colors enveloping the interior design of the space. Comfortable and contemporary bar stools and ledges line the walls, with table seating provided for small or large groups as well as lounge chairs for a relaxed alternative. The café will offer free WiFi service and will be family friendly and wheelchair accessible.
