It’s market time! The Bellevue Farmers Market returns May 13

May 10, 2010

The weather is warming which marks the time to enjoy the sensational tastes that summer has to offer. Lucky for us, this season also brings a favorite local attraction back to Downtown Bellevue! At the Bellevue Farmers Market you can buy straight from the farmer’s themselves, as they bring quality products from throughout the state to our community.

Beginning Thursday, May 13, vendors will be open for business from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church located at 1717 Bellevue Way NE. The Saturday market will open on June 5, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., in a new location at 10610 NE 8th Street (the open grass park next to Washington Square).

Enjoy the freshness of organic produce and discover locally crafted cheese, Puget Sound seafood, specialty meets, flowers, eggs, artisan bread, preserves and a variety of hand made edibles. There are also ready-to-eat treats including wood-fired pizza, tamales, crepes and more.

Supporting local farms has immediate and long-lasting benefits for the community.  It’s common for small producers to avoid using chemicals and pesticides, and buying at the market supports the famers directly.

Visit www.bellevuefarmersmarket.org for a list of market vendors, the cooking demonstration schedule, and the “What’s Fresh” list. Then stroll over to the market to pick up the perfect ingredients for creating a delicious and healthy meal!
